Backyard Daydreaming: Journal in Your Own Backyard

The outdoors are a wonderful place to be, but it can also offer us some challenges. From bugs that bite to the sun that beats down on us, there is always something new and different happening outside than what we experience indoors. This may sound like a bad thing at first, but in reality these little things are what make our outdoor experiences so memorable!

So why not use this as an opportunity to create new memories? Grab your favorite pen and paper (or journal) and head out into your backyard for some creative thinking time. You never know where you might end up when you start daydreaming about all of the possibilities!

One idea is to find a spot in your yard that you don’t usually visit and spend some time there. Maybe there’s a tree you’ve always wanted to climb or a creek you’ve never explored. Take the time to really check out your surroundings and see what new things you can discover. If it’s a hot day, take a moment to soak in the warmth of the sun. If it’s cold, bundle up and sit by a fire pit with some hot cocoa. Maybe you already have everything you need for an outdoor adventure right outside your back door!

Another is look around your garden and find things to use as inspiration. Are there any plants or flowers that catch your eye? What about the shapes of the leaves or the colors of the petals? Try using these things as a starting point for some creative writing. If you’re feeling really adventurous, why not try painting or drawing what you see in your garden?

You can also bring your pets along for the ride. Whatever you do, don’t forget to spend some time daydreaming about what it would be like if they could talk! What would they say about their backyard? What kinds of adventures would they want to go on?

The sky’s the limit when it comes to daydreaming in your backyard, so get creative and have some fun! You may be surprised at what you come up with.
